Replace all damaged or defective parts.
For more information on how to inspect parts, go to General Maintenance Instructions (page 2424).
Look for cracks, breaks, or chips.
Look for excessive rust on inside
All threaded parts
Look for damaged threads or rounded
Antiseizing tape must be used on all pipe threads to provide a good seal and to prevent threaded
parts from seizing.

New oil filter
Put in groove.
Oil filter canister
Put oil filter canister in position.
(1) and retaining
Screw on and tighten using 1 1/8-inch
Wrap pipe threads with antiseizing tape.
Screw in and tighten using 7/16-inch
Start engine and check transmission oil
level (TM 5-3805-254-10).
Check for leaks.
