A CLEAN Dump Truck Air Cleaner Insures Good Breaking
To insure precleaned air, the CCE Dump Truck's air intake to the air brake compressor is piped into the engine's
intake manifold, downstream of the dry type air cleaner. So long as you perform your PM servicing of the air cleaner
element, you will provide sufficient volume of good clean air for both the engine and the brake system. Keep an eye on
the instrument panel air cleaner restriction gage and on the air brake reservoir pressure gage. The air cleaner restriction
gage tells how much air both engine and brakes are going to get while the reservoir pressure gage tells how much air
brake pressure you have left. A dirty air cleaner will starve both the engine and the brake system for air. With a clean air
cleaner element, you'll avoid a smoking engine exhaust and avoid actuating the low air pressure buzzer during repeated
braking. So, if you see smoke out the exhaust and the cab gets too noisy, merely clean or renew the air cleaner element
to get back to normal.
