Dump truck
a.
Start engine and allow engine to reach
operating temperature
(TM 5-3805-254-10).
b.
Shut down engine
(TM 5-3805-254-10).
WARNING
Be careful when bleeding torque converter cooler. Escaping steam and coolant could burn you.
Open draincock just enough to allow any built up pressure to escape.

Torque converter

a.
Using 8-inch slip-joint pliers, turn
cooler (1)
counterclockwise to open.
b.
When all air has escaped and a steady
stream of coolant flows out, turn
clockwise to close using 8-inch slip-joint
pliers.
c.
Repeat steps a and b until all air has
escaped.

Radiator (3)
Coolant
Fill to 1-inch (25.4 mm) below top of
radiator upper tank.

Cap (4)
Put on and turn clockwise.

WARNING
Be careful when removing radiator cap. If engine is hot, escaping steam could burn you. Use a
rag to cover radiator cap. Unscrew cap just enough to allow any built-up pressure to escape.
When all pressure has been relieved, unscrew cap and take off.

Cap (4)
Turn counterclockwise and take off.

Coolant
a.
Visually check coolant level.
b.
If coolant level is lower than 1-inch
(25.4 mm) below top of radiator upper
tank, fill to proper level.

Put on and turn clockwise.
